A playing card set of 52 cards, each featuring a different NZ insect. Created by Leilani Walker (concept) and Emma Scheltema (illustrations) and funded by the New Zealand Entomological Society.

The cards were designed to raise awareness and knowledge about the diversity and uniqueness of New Zealand invertebrate fauna. There are a range of different insects represented, some rare and all with interesting characteristics and features.

Leilani Walker is a behavioural ecologist by training who uses terrestrial invertebrate models to study sexual selection, intra-specific competition and evolution. Her research interests also encompass entomology and arachnology more generally, and equity in higher education and science.
