Product Details

Unique recycled plastic earrings to match a unique native bird!

Dual earrings that contrast the beautiful grey with bright blue colours of the North Island Kōkako wattle.

These earrings are made from 3D printer waste and every feather is different! The plastic is sourced from Kiwifil, another NZ recycling company and is material they couldn't use.

  • Dimensions: feather 4cm x 1cm at widest point
  • Hooks: Hypoallergenic (silver in colour)
  • Made from PLA (3D printer waste) in Christchurch, NZ by Remix Plastic
  • Each feather is unique with its own colours (and blemishes)

In Māori myth, the Kōkako filled its wattles with water and brought it to Maui as he fought the sun. Maui rewarded the bird by making its legs long and slender, enabling it to bound through the forest with ease. There are many Kōkako thriving on Tiritiri Matangi and are a delight to hear and see.
