Financial support for schools
We believe every Auckland school should have the chance to visit Tiritiri Matangi, so in 2012 the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi launched the ‘Growing Minds’ programme, allowing thousands of children from EQI 430+ schools to experience the sanctuary.
How does it work?
The Growing Minds programme offers free travel for a maximum of 85 students from any one school and grants free ferry passage for one adult per six children.
The funding covers :
- Student ferry fare - usually $25
- Guiding fee - usually $2
What's not funded?
- The bus fare to and from the ferry
- Relief teachers for the day
- Additional ferry fare for adults above the 1:6 ratio.
