Supporters' Weekends and Picnic Days
Supporters’ weekends and picnic days are a wonderful way to get to know the island better and to take an active role in Tiritiri Matangi.
Supporters’ weekends will be hosted by two guides and will include the opportunity to do a night walk and listen to the dawn chorus. The guides can also give you advice on where to go for that bird you haven’t yet seen and you will have the chance to help fill the feeders and water troughs. Many of the working weekenders are regulars who love the sense of contributing to the island and enjoy the camaraderie in the bunkhouse at the end of the day.
Supporters, families and your friends (if they are happy to join up) are all welcome. As a Supporter you pay half the usual price ($12 adult, $9 children) for the bunkhouse.
360 Discovery has kindly provided a special rate for the Supporters’ weekends and the Waitangi Day picnic.
Enquiries and bookings for the weekends and special events should be made to Mary-Ann Rowland by email manager@tiritirimatangi.org.nz, or by phoning 09 476 0010 between 11am and 3pm on Wednesday to Sunday.
Join us at an evening seminar
Every year we run several evening seminars for our Supporters. These cover a range of topics, from Tiritiri Matangi’s history to our plants and birds. Our guides love these seminars for their information and for the opportunity to mix and mingle with other Supporters
We think many Supporters would like to have the opportunity to attend these evenings. Please feel free to come and listen – bring a cup for juice or a hot drink after the speaker, as we’re trying to reduce our environmental impact. To attend you must be a financial supporter or join up on the night.
