Tiritiri Matangi Concert

At the end of summer the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi put on an amazing concert.

This year we had HOOP and Tweed.

HOOP are an indie folk band playing feel-good songs about life and love with a dash of political and social commentary thrown in for good measure. Expect to hear sweet harmonies and Kiwi/Celtic influences from this 5-piece lineup up which includes guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass and percussion. Their music has been played on bFM, National Radio and EastFM and their song and video about the Tiritiri Matangi lighthouse is below.

Hoop run the Ministry of Folk in Auckland which is an alternative folk club.

Tweed is an alternative folk trio with a distinctive style of catchy melodies, poly-rhythms, and tight-knit, complex vocal harmonies. Tweed plays widely in folk clubs and music venues around Auckland, and have been a featured guest at the Auckland, Canterbury, and Whare Flat folk festivals, and Auckland Council’s Music in Parks.
