Staying on Tiritiri Matangi

Overnight accommodation is available on Tiritiri Matangi in a bunkhouse that has four bunk rooms. The bunkhouse is well equipped with all cooking utensils, freezer, refrigerator, gas stove and BBQ. Hot and cold running water, showers and bathroom facilities.

You will need to bring a sleeping bag, a pillow case, a sheet to cover the mattress if you wish, your food and a torch or flashlight to go walking at night.

Your food must be in rodent free containers like a sealed box or in your pack. This is to help prevent an accidental introduction of rodents onto the Island as Tiritiri Matangi is rodent free.

Bookings for the bunkhouse need to be made through the Department of Conservation on-line booking system www.doc.govt.nz/tiritiribunkhouse or by phoning the DOC Auckland Visitor Centre (0‎9 3796476 or ‎+64 9 3796476 if you are calling from outside New Zealand).
