Help

This page includes details of items and assistance needed on the Island. If you think you can help, please contact the person listed against the appropriate entry.

The volunteer roles provide opportunities to spend time on the Island and, at the same time, to make a valuable contribution.

The DOC rangers are hoping to recruit a number of volunteers to help with regular tasks on the Island. We are awaiting clearance from the DOC volunteer organiser before posting the details here.

Honorary Treasurer (posted April 2019)

From September 2019, when our current Treasurer will retire, we need a new volunteer for this position.Tiritiri Matangi is an amazing place and over the past 30 years the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi have led the way in restoring the Island from a barren farmed landscape to native bush alive with the sounds of rare birds and populated with a wide range of invertebrates and reptiles. The Island is one of the major visitor attractions in the Auckland region. We are an active and dedicated group of volunteers and our Treasurer plays a key role ensuring we have appropriate financial management to support and enable a huge range of activities and projects.

The Treasurer is an elected position and the incumbent is a member of the Incorporated Society's management committee. Responsibilities include maintaining a Xero-based general ledger, the preparation of annual financial accounts, organising financial auditing, overseeing the Society's financial affairs and providing regular financial information to the management committee. A volunteer bookkeeper processes invoices and payments.

The Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi have multiple income streams which provide funds to carry out a wide range of work on education, infrastructure, visitor guiding and biodiversity management. We are also a registered charity.
