Copper Butterfly
Scientific Name: Lycaena spp
The copper butterfly is recognisable by its orange and black wings. It is the most common butterfly on the island during the summer months and can be encountered in any of the open areas close to small-leaved pohuehue Muehlenbeckia complexa) patches. The caterpillar feeds on the leaves and flowers of this plant and can be very difficult to spot.
