A soft-wooded, twining, branching liane up to 10 m. high or more.

The leaves are of very diverse form, both on the same plant and on different plants. Juvenile forms tend to be long, thin and pointed whereas adult leaves are more oval shaped. 

The small flowers are white or pale yellow and strongly scented.
