Coprosma propinqua   Mingi mingi

Coprosma propinquaA small leaved, divaricating shrub that grows to about 6 m tall.

Leaves: dark green on top, paler underneath; quite thick, usually approx. linear, 10-14 mm long and are arranged opposite each other along the branches, or sometimes in opposite clusters.

Flowers: dioecious (i.e. either male or female) and occur on separate plants. Flowering is from Feb – March. Pollination is by wind.

The seeds ripen from Aug – Sept. within translucent blue berries along the stems and provides food for birds, insects and lizards.
