Treasurer's Report from the 2016 AGM

During the AGM a proposal will be made to modify the statement of our current objectives in our constitution. Our chairperson, Brian Chandler, has provided this explanatory summary:

"Things have changed a bit since the early days of the Tiritiri Project and so as to reflect the current direction and activities of SOTM, the committee proposes the following changes to our constitution (The compiled rules of the supporters of Tiritiri Matangi (Inc)).

The current objects of the rules read :-

· To promote and enhance the open sanctuary at Tiritiri Matangi and to ensure the continuance of the project

· To provide financial, material and physical support for the work at Tiritiri Matangi

· To heighten public awareness of the existence and role of Tiritiri Matangi as an open sanctuary

· To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the foregoing objects or any of them

We propose the following objects to replace these.

· To conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of Tiritiri Matangi

· To support research that serves the needs of natural and cultural conservation on Tiritiri Matangi and elsewhere

· To provide financial, material and physical support for the work at Tiritiri Matangi

· To educate and inspire visitors and others to become advocates for natural and cultural heritage

· To provide and support opportunities for people of diverse interests to participate in Tiritiri Matangi

· To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the foregoing objects or any of them

A motion to accept these changes will be put forward at the 2017 AGM"
